Automotive Importers and Distributors

The car spare parts business and the closely related repair shop operations deliver spare parts and spare part services to repair shops and consumers. The importers within the Association represent the independent spare part manufacturers. The value of the spare part business in wholesale prices is slightly under (€) 300 million.

All leading independent car spare parts wholesale distributors and importers in Finland are members of the Automotive Importers and Distributors Section.

The car spare parts wholesale distributors sell automotive spare parts and supplies to retail businesses, garages, service stations and other related companies. The section’s members also operate in the Baltic region.

The core of the operations consists of lobbying cooperation with the industry’s international umbrella organization. The section cooperates closely with the Automobile Spare Parts Retailers which represents the independent wholesalers, and with the Association of Finnish Auto Repair Shops which represents independent repair shops.

The main goal of the Automotive Importers and Distributors Section is to safeguard fair operational conditions and competitiveness of the independent automotive aftermarket operators. The central goals for the year 2008 are: the continuation of the Block Exemption Regulation, to support the ‘Right to Repair Campaign’, and to pass the spare parts clause of the Directive on the Legal Protection of Designs as it has been proposed by the European Parliament.

The Automotive Importers and Distributors Section is a member of the industry’s international umbrella organization FIGIEFA (Federation of Automotive Aftermarket Distributors).

Kai Ström, Chairman of the Board in Motoral Oy, acts as the section’s Chairman, and Hannu Kyyhkynen acts as the section’s advisor. For further information, please contact Hannu Kyyhkynen by phone +358 (9) 6824 1320, or via e-mail hannu.kyyhkynen(at)tekninen.fi
